Stamp Show Logo Stickers

Another way you can help us is to purchase some self-adhesive New Zealand 2005 National Stamp Show Logo Stickers, as shown at the top left of this page. Use them at work, for club correspondence or add them to your collection of philatelic exhibition ephemera.

They are for sale from the organisers at $5.00 per 10, $30.00 per 100, $200.00 per 1000 all post free.

Souvenir Sheets

In order to promote the Exhibition and to help with fundraising, we would ask you to subscribe to a series of Cinderella sheets. An illustration of the first of these can be seen at Pictures at an Exhibition

The Chalon Issues

NEW ZEALAND 2005 was always intended to be the Exhibition which would celebrate the Sesquicentennial of the Chalon or Full Face Queen issue, New Zealand’s first postage stamps which were put on sale in July 1855.

As an introduction to the Chalon stamps, a series of Cinderella sheets showing a variety of the major features of the various printings will be produced. The first of these, showing the elements which went into the final design of the stamps, was enclosed with Bulletin number 1 for those who received it by mail and this will hopefully serve to encourage supporters of philately to order the remaining 9 sheets in the set.

These will be produced at regular intervals with the Bulletins and will be limited to 400 sets at $75.00 per set, on a first come first served basis.

Future sheets will feature the early prints, the watermarks used, perforation varieties, retouched and re-entered varieties, flaws, famous covers and so on, building up to a mini library of the background information to the printers, the stamps and their usage.

The first sheet shows the original engraving produced by Mr William Humphrys for Messrs Perkins, Bacon & Co., the printers. The Bust of Queen Victoria used in the stamp design was adapted from this engraving, which was itself based on the official portrait by the artist A.E.Chalon, RA. The master Die for the 1d value, illustrates clearly the Rose-turned background design and the portion of this background used in the final stamp.

To order your logo stickers, set of sheets, or to subscribe to the Exhibition Bulletins we ask you to send your details with your cheque in NZ dollars, payable to the North Shore P.S. to:
