Exhibit TitleNew Zealand and the All-Empire Airmail Service 1938-39
DescriptionOn July 26th 1938 a new postal rate was introduced of a 1½d for half-ounce letters from NZ to anywhere in the British Empire, other than to Australia and dependencies. The rate was largely enabled by the introduction of flying boats, but it lasted only until war was declared in September 1939. This display shows commemorative covers, the additional services provided, special markings applied, a range of destinations, and finishes with some inward mail.
